YAY i feel so good that i finished this. I lost momemtum half way through but fellow worker LIG kept asking me how i was going with the blog and finally i got back on the horse and i have past the finishing post. I dont think i am a techno dinosaur and i am definately not a techno geek , learnign new things does excite me but i do need a push now and then and this program gave me that push. I think the biggest thing for me is the time factor, i am leading a busy lifestyle i am already juggling full time work, two teenagers, a bunch of animals , an overload of extra curricular activities on the home front and a battle to keep fit so finding extra time to sit down at the computer which i have to fight for at home with the teenagers has been a battle. I am happy to say that i can show my kids a thing or two now and it feels good to be keeping abreast of new technology. I loved technorati, podcasts, wiki and rss feeds, i will definately take some of these skills with me and i have already used technorati in the work place.i Loved Flickr and some of the on-line generators, i thank the organizers for putting the fun things in the program, they really appealed to my sense of humour. I recently read some articles in a Library Journal and i understood all the things they were talking about because they were things i have coverning in Learning 2.0, The learning and knowledge has increased my confidence in embracing new technology and i have enjoyed the journey, THANKS!!

now this could be really useful in the library personally i am not the greatest listener so audio books can be a challenge sometimes, i think its something to do with my wandering brain patterns. Audio books are becoming increasingly popular and people use them for all sorts of reasons, just take LIG who i work with she is an audio junkie!! This is fantastic to know thta people can download some for free as they are so expensive for the library to purchase and are easily damaged

#17 ZOHO not Zorro
#17 Zoho Writer: well l managed to post it with a picture but now l just need an online editor and i must press spellcheck before posting. I do like some of the features like special characters and the comments boxes. i am not sure what the anchor thing does but i think this program could be quite useful to use. I would like to know if this program could convert text saved in another format so that it can be accessed on any computer

#16 Wiki's: full of surprises

I love the concept of Wiki's now. I especially love Book lovers wikis and and the librarys using annotated catalogues, its fantastic to look at the covers and see what people think about certain books and titles. i read a few book reviews and then got enthusiastic and reserved them myself. I really like librarians sharing successes, this is fantastic to find out what what has been successful in different libraries and i found the online communities wiki very useful and started thinking about how we could do this. I loved community links and local walks and resturants and we could have a wiki on whats happening in the local community. I am glad that i took the time to look at some of these wikis, they were great.

Forge ahead learners of the world and we will lead you. Well at least i am trying, i can see libraries are changing and need to change, we are learning and resource centres and need to embrace the cyber world even more than we are now . What a great thing it is that we have this chance to learn more. i can now read Library journals and understand the articles about 2.0 learning and i think its great that we have had to find the time to take on board all these new and exciting concepts.

tagging is like freefall cataloguing with no rules. I can see how it would be useful to computer junkies but i dont think i use enough websites to justify an account in del.icio.us just at this stage but if i do become a web addicted computer geek in the future i shall return here.

#8 RSS Feeds
Newspaper Man

Well I have subscribed to endless sites and blogs feeding me facts and trivia about all sorts of subjects now i just have to find the time to actually read them and that is the hard part. I can see that RSS would be fantastic for travellers, imagine connecting them to your mobile if you are a die hard sports fan travelling in some remote country. You would only have to find a mobile tower to find out all your favourite footy team news. I can also see that if you had a dead keen interest in a specialised field that this would be an invaluable piece of technology. Myself I can't go past , finding a comfy chair on a cracker of a day, sharing a cup of coffee with a newspaper to catch up on some headlines. Failing that in this busy lifestyle, I do manage a quick scan of the paper copy whenever i can snatch a few minutes.

Well we have come a long way in the technology world in libraries. I can remember card catalogues, book stamping and shuushing in libraries and whilst I am showing my age i am pleased to say that technology doesnt scare me witless. These librarians pictured here look like they might be interested in reading my blog! I wonder what they would think of modern technology.

The grumpy Librarian
Who says Librarians dont know everything!!
Dilbert is talking into the telephone. "Hello, is the the library reference desk?"
"Yes," the voice on the other end replies.
"What's the average running speed of the Tazmanian Boola-boola dog?"
"8.3 miles per hour."
Dilbert stares at the phone and says, "I can't believe she knew that."
The voice continues, "And you have something stuck in your teeth."

Well I am continuing with the animal theme this week, I am pleased to say I am not feeling like this poor turtle with my head jammed in although i am finding this weeks task more challenging, i have read about mashups but i think i need some extra time to play around with things until I feel more confident. I think its going to be more time consuming than i thought.

#5 Flickr: Free style, head first into the sand
Free style
Originally uploaded by Melville B.
This photo represents how i am feeling, excited about experimenting with some new technology but also feeling a bit out of control, out of whack, disorientated and maybe heading headfirst into the sand with a bang. However if i was going to do cartwheels in the sand with my dress on i would wear pants underneath beacuse we all know about the magic of thousands of tiny grains of sand and where they can end up. I love looking at photographs so experimenting with Flickr is fantastic but i found this weeks task a bit tedious as there are too many links to follow and i am running out of time on this public internet as its about to boot me off . so its goodbye from the freestyle cartwheeler
